2017 was a watershed year for funk collective Vulfpeck. The band returned to Red Rocks for their second outing at the iconic Colorado venue, this time to open for Trey Anastasio who sat-in with them as well. They also welcomed a number of high-profile guests on their ensuing tour including KNOWER‘s Louis Cole and Lettuce drummer Adam Deitch. Additionally, during a two-night run in the Bay Area the band would welcome legendary funk drummer Zigaboo Modeliste of The Meters.
Vulfpeck are heavily influenced by The Meters. Vulf has largely styled their sound around the legendary New Orleans funk four-piece’s infectious, less is more grooves and catchy hooks. Over the course of two nights at the famed Fillmore In San Francisco, the city Modeliste now calls home, Vulfpeck — consisting of multi-instrumentalists Theo Katzman, Jack Stratton, Woody Goss as well as bassist Joe Dart, vocalist Antwaun Stanley, guitarist Cory Wong and saxophonist Joey Dosik — brought Modeliste up both nights of the run.
