New Orleans own masters of funk The Meters have been selected by the United States Postal Service to be featured on the 27th annual Jazz Fest Postal Cachet commemorative mailing envelope. Sporting the official Jazz Fest logo and an image of The Meters, the special mailer will be showcased at an unveiling ceremony at 11 a.m. at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center in New Orleans on Thursday, April 23.

The free ceremony will feature a performance by The Meters. This marks Neville’s third time being honored on the Jazz Fest Postal Cachet, having previously been selected in 2000 with the Neville Brothers and in 2006 as a solo artist. Since 1989 honorees such as Dr. John, Tombone Shorty, Rebirth Brass Band and many other musicians have been featured as part of the Jazz Fest Postal Cachet.

The Jazz Fest Postal Cachet will go on sale for $15 each one hour before the ceremony, beginning at 10 a.m. The Meters play the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on Sunday, May 3 during the fest’s second weekend.
