Philadelphia’s Metropolitan Opera House will re-open on December 3rd as The Met Philadelphia. Bob Dylan has been tapped to perform at opening night following a $56 million restoration.
The venue was originally built by impresario Oscar Hammerstein in 1908. Eric Blumenfeld, Holy Ghost Headquarters and Live Nation partnered to restore the theater, which is located on North Broad Street. Dylan’s performance at The Met Philadelphia comes as part of his first North American Tour of 2018.
The Met Philadelphia announced the initial slate of events set to be held at the venue. Other concerts of note include Ween on December 14, Kurt Vile on December 29, Greensky Bluegrass on January 11 and Amos Lee on April 6. Tickets for all of those concerts, as well as the Bob Dylan show, go on sale this Friday, September 14 at 10 a.m. ET via Livenation.com.
