Yes, yes, good lord, yes! Stop what you’re doing and throw on the newest album, 2, from Invisible Astro Healing Rhythm Quartet. The Bakersfield foursome is like a musical ouroboros: chill-groove jazz combo swallowing its psych- guitar-jam tail…or maybe it’s the other way around. Either way, this album, out on Trouble In Mind, is pure instrumental bliss for the JamBase set (that’s you!). Equal parts dreamy and funky, these five tracks are full of extraterrestrial discoveries. While we’re stirring up some butter grooves with an out-there sound, throw on some Khruangbin next. The trio hails somehow both from Texas and London, with a name that’s Thai (means “airplane” more or less, or maybe “flying thing” is more poetic and appropriate) and a sound that’s somewhere between Venus and Mars.
