The Highwomen were among the guests on Thursday’s episode of syndicated talk show The Ellen DeGeneres Show. In addition to performing “Resdesigning Women,” the supergroup featuring Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris, Natalie Hemby and Amanda Shires sat for an interview with host Ellen DeGeneres.

The quartet was backed by an ensemble that included Brandi’s band mates bassist Phil Hanseroth, guitarist Tim Hanseroth and drummer Chris Powell as well as guitarist (and Shires’ husband) Jason Isbell and keyboardist Peter Levin for “Redesigning Women,” a song from their recently released self-titled debut studio album. In the interview, Shires explained the genesis of The Highwomen and her first meeting with Carlile. Additionally, Morris addressed the lack of airplay her songs receive on country radio. The Highwomen then discussed that they would like to recruit both Dolly Parton and Ellen as members of the group.
