The Head And The Heart & Mt. Joy Shoot ‘Arrow’ To Benefit MusiCares Fire Relief

The Head and the Heart teamed with Los Angeles-based band Mt. Joy for a new recording of the former’s song “Arrow.” All proceeds from the collab will benefit MusiCares Fire Relief, which “assists music professionals impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires,” as per a press release.

The Head And The Heart had a Triple A hit with “Arrow” late last year. The song is the first taste of a new THATH album in the works, “details for which will be announced in the coming weeks,” the press materials noted.

In a note accompanying the “Arrow” visualizer, THATH shared their experience when the L.A. wildfires started and that members of Mt. Joy had to evacuate:

As we were getting ready to head to LA for rehearsals and the big AlterEgo show at the Kia Forum, we were shocked to see the wildfires kick up, spreading so rapidly through a city we deeply care about. Friends were evacuating and watching their houses and memories turned to ash while our crew was hunkered down at a hotel in Hollywood. The sunset fire loomed dangerously close and mandatory evacuations were announced.

While our trip to LA was not feasible, we started putting together a plan to help in any way we could. There had been discussions with our friends in Mt. Joy about lending their talents to our song, Arrow, and after seeing the destruction out west, we fully committed to figuring out how to make this collaboration a centerpiece of our relief efforts.

Matt and Sam from Mt. Joy had to evacuate LA and recording their parts for the collab became complex and uncertain but we all believed that this could be a moment to rally our communities in support for fire relief efforts in California. And they more than delivered. We are so happy to present this new version of Arrow, with beautiful additions from our friends and former tour mates. All writers and performers have waived any royalties and all net proceeds from this special release will go towards MusiCares Fire relief fund.
