The Head and the Heart shared a joyous new single entitled “Arrow.” The band issued the track after finding a new label home at Verve Forecast.
“Arrow” will appear on The Head And The Heart’s upcoming sixth album, recorded during sessions held in Richmond, Virginia and Seattle. Their first two albums were issued by Sub Pop Records, followed by three released by Warner Records.

The Head And The Heart self-produced “Arrow,” which is their first new music since the release of their 2022 album, Every Shade of Blue. The in-house approach recalled the band’s early recording efforts.
The Head And The Heart’s Jonathan Russell spoke about “Arrow” and the decision for the band to return to handling production:
“It’s a very self-empowering song for me. Sometimes you feel a little lost at sea without an anchor. If something was to go south, would anybody even be able to help you or find you? It’s nice to know that you have your own way of providing yourself with confidence when you’re out there in the dark …
“[Self-producing was] a 180 in terms of where we were headed. We really wanted to make our next music our own way, and it was a lot of fun to have all of us in a room together again. When we’d have downtime over the past two years, we’d all fly into either Richmond or Seattle and work in a specific studio in each place. We worked with engineers from our past. All these things went into being able to reimagine how we wanted to approach making music.”
Details regarding The Head And The Heart’s new album are forthcoming. The band will perform a sold-out acoustic show tonight at Nashville’s intimate Cannery Hall.
