Ready to launch in April 2020, the band was confronted with a world on pause. In the absence of live music, they took advantage of opportunity and narrowed in on the songs of David Gilmour that compel deeper exploration. The only band since Blue FLoyd (2000) endeavoring to make these songs accessible again, TGP’s interpretation goes beyond spontaneous add-ons and stays faithful to the classic hooks, licks, and musical phrases of Pink Floyd’s authenticity.
This igneous return of music that will send you off to the space races is one you don’t want to miss! The improvisational “jam gestalt” of the legendary Blue Floyd, which both Pevar and Prince performed with, matched with Pink Floyd deep tracks, hits and fan favorites, including solo Gilmour gems, and accompanied by “Floydian” audio FX from Paul Simon producer “The Duke of New York” (Graceland – The Remixes) gives you none other than The Gilmour Project.
The members bring their own singular proficiency and flavor to the architecture of Floyd’s origination/influence of psychedelic space-rock and blues-inspired progressive improvisation sound movements. Jeff Pevar (lead guitar with CSN, David Crosby, Phil Lesh, Ray Charles), Prairie Prince (co-founder of The Tubes, and drums with Todd Rundgren, Jefferson Starship, Phil Lesh), Kasim Sulton (bass and vocals with Todd Rundgren’s Utopia, Meatloaf and Blue Oyster Cult), Mark Karan (guitar and vocals with Bob Weir, RatDog, The Other Ones) and Scott Guberman (keyboard and vocals with Phil Lesh) bring years of experience.
TGP aims to spread this poignant music marked by the use of philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, and elaborate live shows to audience members who never got a chance to experience the repertoire of sound known as Pink Floyd.
Be sure to tune in on June 24th for The Gilmour Project’s debut livestream from The Great American Music Hall and let The Gilmour Project amplify what you know as music today.
