The Doobie Brothers Announce ‘Quadio’ Box Set

The announced a new box set, Quadio, set for an early September release via Rhino. The collection contains quadrophonic and high-resolution remixes of four of the band’s essential early albums: Toulouse Street (1972), The Captain & Me (1973), What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits (1974) and Stampede (1975).

The Quadio box set features these seminal early works, all achieving either gold or platinum status, mastered using the original four-track Quad mixes. The Blu-ray audio discs — which come in replicas of the original vinyl record sleeves packaged in a clamshell box — are intended to be played using Surround Sound for the full Quadraphonic effect. They contain hits and classic rock radio staples like “Listen to The Music,” “Rockin’ Down the Highway,” “China Grove,” “Black Water” and more.

The box set comes as the Dobbie Brothers mark two milestones: their 50th anniversary as a band as well as their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. The Doobies and Michael McDonald had planned to embark on a 50th-anniversary tour in 2020, which has been rescheduled to 2021. The tour will see Doobie members Tom Johnston, Pat Simmons, John McFee and Michael McDonald hitting the road together for the first time in over 25 years. The Quadio box set heralds the band’s induction into the Rock Hall, with the ceremony airing on HBO Saturday, November 7 at 8 p.m. ET.
