The Band’s self-titled album will be expanded as part of a new 50th anniversary reissue. Due on November 15, The Band 50th Anniversary Edition features Bob Clearmountain’s stereo remix from the original master tapes, along with 13 outtakes – six of which are previously unreleased — and The Band’s previously unreleased Woodstock 1969 live performance.
A Super Deluxe edition will be available made up of “2CD, digital, 180-gram 2LP black vinyl, and limited 180-gram 2LP ‘tiger’s eye’ color vinyl” versions of the landmark album. The box includes a book containing photos by Elliot Landy and an essay written by Anthony DeCurtis as well as a 7-inch vinyl single with “Rag Mama Rag” / “The Unfaithful Servant” that’s a reproduction of the original 1969 release. The package also comes with the Classic Albums: The Band documentary.
The late Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Richard Manuel along with Garth Hudson and Robbie Robertson initially released as The Band’s sophomore album on September 22, 1969. The Band featured such future classics as “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,” “Up On Cripple Creek,” “Look Out Cleveland,” “King Harvest (Has Surely Come)” and more.
