The A’s – the duo of Amelia Meath (Sylvan Esso) and Alexandra Sauser-Monnig (Daughter Of Swords) – released a cover of “Lonesome L.A. Cowboy.” The new track comes in advance of the start of the Mountain Man bandmates’ first tour.
The A’s released their debut album, Fruit, earlier this year. Produced by Sauser-Monnig, Meath and Meath’s Sylvan Esso partner Nick Sanborn, Fruit was recorded at Betty’s, Meath and Sanborn’s studio in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The A’s are set to tour in support of the record, embarking on a run of shows opening for Marcus Mumford.
“Lonesome L.A. Cowboy” was written by Peter Rowan and recorded by The New Riders Of The Purple Sage for their 1973 album, The Adventures of Panama Red. The song is one of several written by Rowan and recorded by NRPS, including “Panama Red” and “Midnight Moonlight.”
The A’s and Marcus Mumford’s tour together starts on Monday, October 17 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and continues through November 10 in Toronto. Listen to The A’s cover of “Lonesome L.A. Cowboy” below:
