SummerStage organizers have announced c omplete details of this year’s 30th anniversary season, which runs from May 18 to October 5. According to a press release, “The 2015 season will feature more shows in Central Park and 15% growth in the number of performances offered in neighborhood parks around the city, creating 6-day ‘mini-festivals’ in 8 parks, featuring music, dance, theater, film, circus and family days. In total this new model will add over 20 performances to the fourteen parks SummerStage presents in, bringing more than 140 unique artists to these stages around the city.”
While the full lineup can be viewed via SummerStage.org, there are a few performances of note we want to highlight. First off, Tedeschi Trucks Band will open the season with a free concert in Central Park on May 18. Also, The Felice Brothers will team with The Barr Brothers at Red Hook Park in Brooklyn on June 4. Central Park will host the Blue Note Jazz Festival on June 6 featuring performances from Meshell Ndegeocello, Roy Hargrove and Gabriel Garzon-Montano. We also suggest circling June 13 on the calendar for a free Lettuce and The Soul Rebels concert in Central Park.
