Tedeschi Trucks Band and Ziggy Marley have been touring together for several weeks, including a stop on Saturday at Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Tedeschi Trucks Band enlisted Marley for a collaborative performance of the reggae classic “Rasta Man Chant.”
Popularized by Ziggy Marley’s father, reggae legend Bob Marley, “Rasta Man Chant” is a traditional song that appeared on elder Marley’s group The Wailers’ 1973 album Burnin’. Tedeschi Trucks Band guitarist Derek Trucks covered the song with his previous group, The Derek Trucks Band.
Saturday’s collaboration took place at the start of TTB’s headlining set. Marley shared lead vocals with Susan Tedeschi and then the two danced together while Trucks came in with a torrid slide solo.
TTB and Ziggy Marley’s tour together continues tomorrow, Tuesday, July 11 in Canandaigua, New York. Watch audience-shot video footage of Saturday’s “Rasta Man Chant”
