The Tedeschi Trucks Band made their Telluride Bluegrass Festival debut one year ago today. Led by Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, the 12-piece band welcomed Telluride Bluegrass fixtures Del McCoury, Ronnie McCoury, Sam Bush and Jerry Douglas for guest appearances over the course of their 16-song set. Both an audience recording and soundboard audio that aired on Telluride radio station KOTO can be streamed below for this week’s Full Show Friday.

On June 21, 2018 the Tedeschi Trucks Band headlined the first day of the 45th annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival at Town Park in the scenic Colorado mountain town. The TTB opened with a run of originals: “Laugh About It” and “Let Me Get By” from 2016’s Let Me Get By album split by “Part Of Me” from 2013’s Made Up Mind. Susan then introduced Del McCoury and his son Ronnie McCoury, who joined the group for a rendition of George Jones’ “Color Of The Blues.” Next, the Tedeschi Trucks Band went back to Let Me Get By for “Don’t Know What It Means” before performing the recently debuted original “Shame” and Derek showcase “Midnight In Harlem.”

The set rolled on with a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Down In The Flood,” which the band had dusted off for the first time in years less than a month prior. Another Let Me Get By cut, “Right On Time” followed. Sam Bush was the next guest of the night, as he aided the Tedeschi Trucks Band on Derek & The Dominos’ “Tell The Truth.” Bush was replaced by Jerry Douglas for the sequence of Sleepy John Estes’ “Leaving Trunk,” the TTB original “I Want More” and “Soul Sacrifice” by Santana. The 12-piece went at it alone in closing the set with Joe Cocker’s “Space Captain” and performing the Nina Simone-popularized “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free” as the encore.
