Tedeschi Trucks Band started the encore of Tuesday’s concert in Sacramento, California with their first live “Last Night In The Rain” performance. The song appears on TTB’s I Am The Moon: Episode IV. Farewell, which officially arrives tomorrow.
“Last Night In The Rain” was played hours after an accompanying film for the six-song collection directed by Alix Lambert premiered on YouTube. The cut opens the fourth and final installment of the band’s I Am The Moon album series. Tedeschi Trucks Band debuted fellow Farewell track “Soul Sweet Song,” a tribute to late keyboardist Kofi Burbridge, last week in San Diego.
Susan Tedeschi handled lead vocals on the pensive “Last Night In The Rain.” The new original wasn’t on the stage setlist but the band decided to unveil the song to kick off an encore at Sacramento Memorial Auditorium that also included a cover of “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free.” See fan-shot video video footage of “Last Night In The Rain” from Tuesday’s show below:
Tuesday’s concert came as part of this summer’s Wheels Of Soul tour with Los Lobos and Gabe Dixon. “Let Me Get By” began TTB’s 13-song main set. The 12-piece ensemble went heavy on I Am The Moon material as “Fall In,” the title track and “Pasaquan” represented Episode I. Crescent while “Gravity” and “Take Me As I Am” off Episode III. The Fall also made the setlist. Furthermore, the group played the aforementioned “Soul Sweet Song” in Sacramento.
Wheels Of Soul rolls into Auburn, Washington on Friday, August 26.
