Taz & Shira Elias Guest With Twiddle At The Capitol Theatre Finale – Photos & Videos
Vermont jam quartet Twiddle ended a Thanksgiving Weekend run with their second of two shows at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on Saturday night. The band welcomed a pair of guests and broke down a handful of songs into multiple sections as part of the memorable finale, which featured an opening set from Organ Freeman.
Twiddle opened up with “Jamflowman” but made a turn into “Dr. Remidi’s Meltdown” and “Every Soul” before returning to “Jamflowman.” The jamming and segues continued with a move into “Doinkinbonk.” Port Chester’s “Latin Tang” sandwich was served on “Doinkinbonk” bread. Twiddle then brought out guitarist Brandon “Taz” Niederauer and Turkuaz vocalist Shira Elias for a cover of John Prine’s “Angel From Montgomery.” Both Taz and Shira had performed the song with Twiddle back in July at Irving Plaza, just months after the band debuted their version of “Angel From Montgomery” with help from Midnight North’s Elliott Peck.
Mihali Savoulidis & Co. began the second set with a wild “Tiberius” sequence. Within were versions of fan-favorite originals “Hattie’s Jam,” “When It Rains, It Pours” and “White Light.” Then, Twiddle brought out Taz for a well-jammed rendition of “Milk.” Up next was “Carter Candlestick,” which gave way to a reprise of “Jamflowman.” For the encore, Taz and Twiddle teamed up for a cover of “Shakedown Street” by the Grateful Dead. Niederauer not only showed off his shredding skills, but also added vocals to Twiddle’s first “Shakedown” since their guest-filled Dead Set at Catskill Chill 2014.
