Tame Impala kicked off the 2025 U.S. leg of the Deadbeat Tour on Monday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Frontman Kevin Parker and company performed several songs from the new record, Deadbeat, in public for the first time alongside older favorites for night one of four in New York City.
After kicking off the concert with “Apocalypse Dreams” from Tame Impala’s second album Lonerism, the band got into Deadbeat material with the rave cut “Dracula.” The band — Parker, Dominic Simper, Jay Watson, James Ireland, Julien Barbagallo and Cameron Avery — also included the public debuts of “Loser” and “My Old Ways” as well as the first performance of “After Thought” in the concert’s initial section.
Parker then kicked off a DJ set with a snippet of Deadbeat‘s “No Reply” followed by premieres of “Ethereal Connection” and “Not My World.” The second full band section also saw first time plays of “Obsolete” and “Piece Of Heaven.” All told, Tame Impala offered 9 full performances out of Deadbeat‘s 12 tracks.
Additional favorites included “Borderline,” “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards,” “Let It Happen” and “New Person, Same Old Mistakes.” Following the latter, the encore got underway with the Tame Impala debut of “Neverender,” a Grammy-winning collaboration with French duo Justice. “The Less I Know The Better,” off 2015’s Currents, came next before the show closer, Deadbeat‘s final track “End Of Summer.”
