Peach Music Festival Saturday :: 8.13.16 :: Montage Mountain :: Scranton, PA

One of the stronger festival days of the summer took place on Saturday at the Peach Music Festival in Scranton. Railroad Earth, Twiddle, Bustle In Your Hedgerow, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, The Claypool Lennon Delirium the Trey Anastasio Band were just a few of the acts to perform during an action-packed day at Montage Mountain.

After up-and-comers Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, The Trongone Band and Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds helped kick off the music on Saturday, author Alan Paul held a chat with Allman Brothers Band founding drummer Jaimoe within The Lodge. Railroad Earth’s set included takes on “Colorado,” “When The Sun Gets In Your Blood,” “Mourning Flies,” “Catfish John” and more, while Twiddle brought out Trey Anastasio Band drummer and keyboardist Russ Lawton and Ray Paczkowski to contribute to “White Light.”

Drummer Joe Russo, keyboardist Marco Benevento, bassist Dave Dreiwitz and guitarist Scott Metzger pulled double duty as Bustle played one Led Zeppelin classic after another including “Kashmir” and “The Song Remains The Same,” while Tom Hamilton joined in for a JRAD performance that featured “Cumberland Blues,” “Mr. Charlie,” “The Wheel,” “Eyes Of The World,” “The Music Never Stopped” and the “Terrapin Station” suite. Later in the night The Claypool Lennon Delirium focused on songs from their debut album along with a cover of King Crimson’s “In The Court Of The Crimson King,” while TAB played two sets that included “Sand,” “Architect,” “Clint Eastwood,” “Cayman Review,” “soul Rebel,” “Gotta Jibboo” and more. A rain delay came in the middle of “Sand,” but the band did return to end the song and their performance. Umphrey’s McGee’s lone set came late night and saw the six-piece cover Prince (“Controversy”), bust out an original (“Den”) and play a number of fan favorites such as “Glory,” “In The Kitchen,” “Hajimemashite” and “Bridgeless.”

The Peach Music Festival ends on Sunday with sets from Warren Haynes, the Rich Robinson Band, RB&B, Gov’t Mule and more. Check out Adam McCullough’s photos from Saturday:
