SweetWater Brewing Company will host the 2017 installment of the SweetWater 420 Fest at Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park on April 21 – 23. Attendees will be able to try two new limited edition brews that are the result of a collaboration with 420 Fest acts The Hip Abduction and Slightly Stoopid.
The Hip Abduction and Slightly Stoopid met with SweetWater head brewer Nick Nock to discuss their favorite beer styles and flavors, brainstorm ingredients and develop recipes. Nock tapped into The Hip Abduction’s breezy vibe to create “Hipbiscus Tropical Ale.” The new brew is said to be “a light and crisp, super drinkable pale ale, made with 2 Row, Pilsner and a touch of wheat for the malt bill.” The head brewer went a different route after meeting with members of Slightly Stoopid backstage at a concert. “Citra Hash Stoopid Brew” is a Mexican Lager featuring a light blonde body.
Fans can preview the Hipbiscus Tropical Ale and Citra Hash Stoopid Brew in the brewery’s taproom with the former available April 5 – 9 and the latter April 12 – 16 during regular tour hours. Tour guests will receive custom pint glasses (while supplies last).
In addition to trying both new brews at 420 Fest, attendees can enjoy live performances by The Hip Abduction and Slightly Stoopid, plus panel discussions about the beers in the SweetWater Experience Tent, an area devoted to tasting specialty casks and mingling with brewers and industry experts.
420 Fest ’17 will feature four sets of Widespread Panic over two nights, a pair of sets from the Trey Anastasio Band as well as performances from Ween, Slightly Stoopid, Dirty Heads, moe., Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Dark Star Orchestra, Lettuce, The Hip Abduction and dozens more. Tickets are on sale now at the SweetWater 420 Fest website.
