Watch Susan Tedeschi Burn Through Solo ‘Friar’s Point’

The performance was part of Susan’s Just Won’t Burn 25th Anniversary Sessions.

Susan Tedeschi celebrated her landmark 1998 solo album with the Just Won’t Burn 25th Anniversary Sessions. The singer-songwriter and guitarist recently shared a live video featuring a solo performance of the record’s closer, “Friar’s Point.”

Friars Point, Mississippi is situated near the legendary “Crossroads,” where the myth of blues great Robert Johnson’s Faustian bargain began. As the story goes, Johnson sold his soul to the devil in exchange for musical success.

In her live video, Susan Tedeschi tells a true story about an experience she had near Friars Point.

“I literally got pulled over in a car…right near Friars Point and this guy came out, a State Trooper, he pulls out of the cotton field in the statie car, like out of nowhere. All this dust comes up, he literally came out of the cotton field. Dude pulls me over and he looks just like Robert Johnson. It really messed me up, I was like what’s happening.”

Susan then launches into the song inspired by the experience, “Friar’s Point.” Watch below:
