North Coast Music Festival :: 09.01 – 03.17
Union Park :: Chicago, IL
The eighth annual North Coast Music Festival was held at Chicago’s Union Park over Labor Day Weekend. Once again, organizers presented a diverse lineup that ran the gamut from EDM giants Deadmau5 & Eric Prydz to hip-hop superstar Big Boi to jamtronica act STS9 to funk from Lettuce to straight-up rock from the likes of Ween and Primus.
Friday’s action was headlined by Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz and also featured sets from Bonobo’s live band, a funk workout from Lettuce and performances from hip-hop stars Gucci Mane and Lil Dicky. On Saturday, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley headlined a day that saw STS9 present a remix of Lorde’s “Green Light,” while Joe Russo’s Almost Dead played a set highlighted by a “Not Fade Away”/”Throwing Stones” mashup/medley. Les Claypool followed a set with Primus by sitting-in with Ween as part of the final day at the festival that also included a Chance The Rapper cameo with The Cool Kids.
