THE SEARCH FOR THE HEADY CRYSTAL BEGINS!

JamBase is happy to present the world premiere of the first video in a fun series of clips surrounding one of our favorite West Coast music gatherings, Summer Meltdown – taking place August 10-12 in Darrington, WA. Located a couple hours outside Seattle, Summer Meltdown is the perfect balance of an intimate, gorgeous setting, amazing people and a musically robust lineup – check out this JamBase rave from a few years back for more details. This video was written and produced by The Staxx Brothers, and is set to “Keep The Motor Runnin’”, a stand out track from The Staxx Brothers’ 2007 debut album The 12th Street Blues. The video – directed by Jeff Ferrell and starring Tyler Trerise as Elvis Jackson Jr. – is the first of four parts, all of which will be screened this Thursday, July 12th, at the Soul United Film Fest at the Pickford Film Center in Bellingham, WA. The entire 4 part Meltdown: The Search for the Heady Crystal movie and the “Sugarwalls” prequel will be shown at the film fest, as well as videos from over a dozen other recording artists and filmmakers.

The premise of the movie is as follows:

For the last 12 years, the main stage of Summer Meltdown has been powered by an uber heady crystal. This crystal has been stolen and rouge members of the Summer Meltdown staff will stop at nothing to get back this uber heady source of raw renewable energy. Their only hope is this man, Elvis Jackson Jr., the only son of Michael & Lisa Marie. For if they do not retrieve this uber heady Meltdown crystal, the main stage of Summer Meltdown will be powered instead by fossil fuels. And that my friends is an uber bummer.

Tickets for Summer Meltdown are available here. The lineup for 2012 includes Beats Antique, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, EOTO, Blitzen Trapper, Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons and festival hosts The True Spokes. Check out the full lineup here.
