Rome Ramirez announced his departure from Sublime with Rome. The guitarist and vocalist will leave the Sublime offshoot at the end of 2024, as per a press release.
Rome Ramirez shared a note regarding his departure from the band:
“After almost two remarkable decades, I am announcing my departure from Sublime with Rome at the close of 2024. The upcoming performances over the next year will allow us to reflect on countless incredible memories together!
Over the last 2 years I’ve been spending countless hours pouring my soul into my solo music, and the excitement to share these songs with you is building up! I’ve got some really big news that I can’t drop yet. Just wait!
Singing and playing guitar for this iconic band has been a lifetime opportunity and just flat out, absolutely epic. Carrying on the Sublime legacy has been a trust I’ll forever cherish.
This is only the beginning…”

Rome Ramirez founded Sublime With Rome in 2010 with surviving Sublime members bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh. Sublime’s founding vocalist and guitarist, Bradley Nowell, died tragically from an accidental drug overdose in 1996. Nowell was 28 years old.
Wilson and Gaugh found success performing Sublime songs with Rome Ramirez but also released new original material with their debut album, Yours Truly, arriving in 2011. Gaugh left the band shortly after the album was released with renowned drummer Josh Freese joining the group.
Over the next decade the band toured extensively and released two more albums, 2015’s Sirens and Blessings in 2019. Most recently the band collaborated with Slightly Stoopid, a band Bradley Nowell signed to Skunk Records in 1996, on “Cool & Collected.” Sublime With Rome released an EP, Tangerine Skies, in 2023.
Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh recently performed with Bradley Nowell’s son Jakob Nowell at a benefit for Bad Brains singer H.R. on December 11th, as reported by Consequence. It appears a project with Wilson, Gaugh and Jakob Nowell may be in the works but no official announcement has been made.
As Ramirez noted, however, Sublime With Rome will continue to tour in 2024. The band also has a new drummer, Joe Tomino of Dub Trio. Additionally, a press release indicated that Sublime With Rome will release a new album in 2024. Watch a video Ramierez shared further detailing his departure from Sublime With Rome below:
