Sturgill Simpson, Amanda Shires & Fiona Prine Join John Prine In Scotland

Lauded singer-songwriter John Prine performed Sunday evening at Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow, Scotland. The show featured sit-ins by special guests Sturgill Simpson and Amanda Shires, as well as John’s wife Fiona Prine.

Having just issued a songbook John Prine Beyond Words, the guitarist has spent most of the month touring Europe, with Shires and her band on hand to open several of the shows. Shires has accompanied Prine on stage on several occasions on the tour, including last night’s sit-in on “In Spite Of Ourselves” and “Storm Window.” Simpson followed that guest spot by joining Prine on “Speed Of The Sound of Loneliness.”

John and Fiona later dueted on “My Happiness” and the show drew to a close with Simpson and Shires back on stage for a rendition of “Paradise.” Prine’s tour continues tonight in Manchester, England with Shires supporting a show at Manchester Bridgewater Hall.
