STS9 explored “The Human Dream” for their New Year’s Eve concert at The Fillmore Denver on Saturday. The third of three concerts at the venue saw the livetronica act delivering both original and cover bust-outs.
STS9 announced their New Year’s run at The Fillmore Denver in September. Sound Tribe has held several NYE celebrations at the Denver Fillmore over the years with the last coming in 2018. In their social media announcement, Tribe described the 2022 “Human Dream” theme as “celebrating the dream of human life…together we’ll ring in the New Year as we dig deep and explore our musical past, present, and future!”

STS9 kicked off the NYE concert with “Presence Of Light” followed by a pairing of “Biggs” and “One Two Three,” together clocking in close to 15 minutes. STS9 would surpass the quarter-hour mark on the next coupling, this time beginning with a “human” theme-fitting bust out of composer David Axelrod’s “Human Abstract.” Sound Tribe last played the composition on March 14, 2015 in New Orleans, as per STS9 Stats. “Human Abstract” then flowed into “G-Funk.” The tail end of the first frame included “Rise Above, Get Loud,” “Dusk” and set-closer “Seed.”
STS9 launched the second set with the countdown followed by “Auld Lang Syne.” The quintet then dusted off “New New 4 UU,” last time played on February 12, 2016 in St. Louis. The band then linked up “Falling,” “Arrowhead” and the eponymous classic “STS9,” the latter stretching to 13 minutes. Another three-song seamless sequence would wrap the second set, consisting of “When The Dust Settles,” “Instantly” and “Moonsocket.” STS9 returned to encore with “GLASS-z13” into “Baraka.”
