The String Cheese Incident Ring In 2017 With Theatrics: Photos, Videos & Setlist

The String Cheese Incident :: 12.31.16 ::

Colorado’s own The String Cheese Incident finished off a series of three shows at 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado on Saturday night with a three-set New Year’s Eve performance. In typical SCI fashion, the band employed dancers and aerialists to create a wild scene to begin the new year. One of the big stories of the run was keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth’s injury as he broke his hand before the shows. Thankfully, he was able to pull it off, most of the time playing with just one hand. Cheese kicked off the action with “San Jose” and ended the first set with Allman Brothers Band and Grateful Dead covers by performing “Hot ‘Lanta” and “Deal.” SCI had only played “Deal” once prior, way back on August 6, 2004.

The second set also featured more bust outs as Cheese played “Orange Blossom Special” for the first time since January 21, 2015 and “Walking On The Moon” by The Police for the first time since September 12, 2014. SCI began the third set with “You’ve Got The World” and then used “Just One Story” to ring in 2017. As the band made their way through the song a bunch of aerialists hung from the ceiling, which featured a number of installations including a flying horse carousel. Saturday’s third set continued on with “Don’t It Make You Wanna Dance,” “Rivertrance” and “Sirens” > “Beautiful.” The String Cheese Incident said farewell with an encore of Bob Dylan’s “Quinn The Eskimo” and the traditional “Sittin’ On Top Of The World.” Check out Jeremy Williams’ photos from Broomfield:
