Last month, The String Cheese Incident headed to St. Louis, performing a two-night run at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. On the second night of the run, Saturday, April 20, the Colorado-based jam act offered up a touching tribute to fan and friend Tara Lynn Kelly, who had passed away earlier in the day from melanoma.

To honor the passing, Michael Kang began the second set by noting into the mic, “We’re going to send this one out to our friend Tara.” The group then moved into a set-opening rendition of “Into The Blue,” a Kang-penned tune written about the loss of his mother. Notably, the performance marked the second time the song had been played live, following up its debut during the band’s heralded home-state New Year’s Eve celebration at Broomfield’s 1stBank Center. Later in the set, the group performed an extended seven-minute jam between “Way Back Home” and “Riverdance,” which they named “Jam for Tara” in dedication of their friend.
