The String Cheese Incident celebrated Halloween on Saturday night as part of their headlining performance at Hulaween at Spirit of The Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida. SCI’s Saturday Shebang featured a third set made up entirely of covers and several guests joining the band throughout the celebratory occasion.

The String Cheese Incident — guitarist Bill Nershi, bassist Keith Moseley, mandolinist Michael Kang, drummer Michael Travis, keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth and percussionist Jason Hann — took the Hulaween stage dressed as Beetlejuice. The first set on Saturday consisted of several Cheese staples such as “Joyful Sound,” “Black And White,” “MLT,” “Close Your Eyes” and “Valley Of The Jig.” The second set presented the first guest of the evening as The Infamous Stringdusters dobro player Andy Hall came out for “Shantytown,” “Restless Wind” and “Rivertrance.”

The third set saw The String Cheese Incident joined at the onset by the Antibalas horn section. The guest horns accompanied the band on Cameo’s “Rigor Mortis” and exited before a transition into Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer.” Next came “Time Warp” from the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack, followed by AC/DC’s “Highway To Hell.”

Oingo Boingo’s “Dead Man’s Party” kept the thematic setlist going. The Antibalas horns reemerged for a pairing of Chic’s “Le Freak” with “Superfreak” by Rick James. The guest horns stuck around for Kool & The Gang’s “Spirit of the Boogie” and The Specials’ “Ghost Town.” Vocalists Rhonda Thomas and Tony White came out for “Ghost Town,” and remained onstage for the remainder of the set.

Continuing on, SCI worked in the Halloween horror film theme while steering a return to “Time Warp,” which segued into Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive.” The Trammps’ “Disco Inferno” ushered in the end of the Shebang celebration and featured a take on Harry Belafonte’s “Jump in the Line” within.
