The String Cheese Incident Dusts Off Covers In St. Louis: Full Show Audio
The String Cheese Incident brought their 25th-anniversary tour to The Fabulous Fox Theater in St. Louis, Missouri kicking off a two-night stand on Friday. The jamband stalwarts dusted off covers by Traffic, Led Zeppelin and Billy Joe Shaver.
The Colorado-born band got their night off the ground with a jam-heavy run looking to “Desert Dawn” to open things up. The Kyle Hollingsworth-penned rarity “Lost” followed as it worked its way into the Traffic instrumental “Glad.” The cut from John Barleycorn Must Die was delivered for just the third since it was debuted last summer. “Manga” came ahead of the second surprise of the evening as the six-piece served up the second attempt at Billy Joe Shaver’s country hit “Live Forever.” The jamgrass act delivered another seamless stretch to close out the frame stitching together expansive takes on “Little Hands” and “Looking Glass,” which made its way into the setlist for just the third time since 2017, with another lesser played tune, “Colliding.”
The sextet dug their heals in to get their second frame in St. Louis going dedicating roughly 45-minutes to “Sweet Spot” and the pairing of the recent addition “Illegal” and the old-school “Dirk.” Bill Nershi’s “I Want You,” which was debuted during the band’s recent swing through Aspen followed. “Hi Ho No Show” kicked off the final portion of the evening as it worked its way into Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir.” The Physical Graffiti track was dusted off for the first time since July of last year and offered up for just the 14th time ever. “All We Got,” yet another recently debut song brought the stanza to a close. The String Cheese Incident served up a two-song encore teaming “Galactic” with “I Know You Rider.”
