On Friday night, Colorado’s own The String Cheese Incident kicked off their traditional summer visit to the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison. The show featured an opening performance from TAUK followed by two sets from SCI.

The String Cheese Incident opened with the old school favorite “Texas” ahead of the third version of the recently debuted “Get Tight.” Next up was “Way That It Goes” which featured a tease of “Spinning Wheel” by Blood, Sweat & Tears and “Farther,” a song the band busted out earlier this year for the first time since 2007. The first set concluded with a run of “Water” > “It Is What It Is” > “Hi Ho No Show,” another original recently debuted by SCI.

Friday’s second set featured a career-spanning mix of songs. SCI unveiled their cover of Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” within “Way Back Home” including synth work from Kyle Hollingsworth and vocals from drummer Michael Travis. The first “Seventh Step” of the summer led into a set-closing “Black Clouds,” “Miss Brown’s Teahouse” > “Let’s Go Outside” sequence. SCI said farewell with a lengthy “Rivertrance” encore. The run continues tonight. A webcast is available via nugs.tv.
