The String Cheese Incident Debuts Bob Marley Cover As Part Of Las Vegas Opener

On Friday night, Colorado jam act The String Cheese Incident began a three-night stand at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas that will bring this year’s March Madness Tour to a close. SCI’s setlists have been filled with surprises and last night’s Vegas opener was no exception.

The String Cheese Incident opened with a taste of their early days as “Shine” and “Rhythm Of The Road” led into a cover of Newgrass Revival’s “Can’t Stop Now.” Earlier this tour, SCI busted out “Farther” after nearly nine years and performed it once again last night. Kyle Hollingsworth’s “MLT” then gave way to the evening’s first Bob Marley cover – “Could You Be Loved.” One of the band’s newest originals, “Stop Drop Roll” brought the first set to its conclusion.

SCI worked a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” within “Rosie” to start the second set. Last night’s “Billie Jean” was only the third in the band’s history. There were more covers in store for the closing stanza including Rusty Wier’s “Don’t It Make You Wanna Dance,” Led Zeppelin’s “The Ocean” and The String Cheese Incident debut of “Soul Shakedown Party” by Bob Marley. The second set also featured the year’s first “Tinder Box” and the return of “Seventh Step” for the first time since November 6, 2014. On a night filled with covers, the band had one more in store as they encored with Talking Heads’ “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody).”
