Billy Strings Joins The String Cheese Incident At Hulaween

Billy Strings joined The String Cheese Incident on Sunday at Suwanee Hulaween in Live Oak, Florida. The guest guitarist brought along his band mates, mandolinist Jarrod Walker and banjoist Billy Failing, for the sit-in at the start of the matinee set.

Sunday’s performance was SCI’s final headlining set at this year’s Hulaween. Strings, Failing and Walker came out with the band at the start of the show that opened with the traditional “Remington Ride.” A cover of Peter Rowan and Bill Monroe’s “The Walls Of Time” — SCI’s first performance since 2017 — came next, followed by “I Know You Rider.” The collaboration ended with Strings & Co. assisting on “Rivertrance.”

After the guests’ exit, SCI kicked into “Best Feeling” which went into Bob Marley’s “Exodus” before returning to end the song. The rest of the set contained “Smile,” “Into The Blue,” “Sirens” into “Close Your Eyes” and a closing rendition of “Colorado Bluebird Sky.” The String Cheese Incident heads next to Austin, Texas for a three-night Halloween run at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater.
