In May of 1998, The String Cheese Incident made their first trip to Jamaica for a pair of performances at Alfred’s Ocean Palace in Negril. The band was inspired by the run to throw a series of “International Incidents” over the past 20 years and today have announced their return to Jamaica. SCI and Island Gigs will present The Jamaica Incident at The Jewel Paradise Cove Resort in Runaway Bay, Jamaica January 25 – 28.
The String Cheese Incident will play three, two-set shows over the course of the event. Longtime friend and collaborator Keller Williams will perform twice and will then team up with Cheese for a special Keller Williams Incident collaboration on Sunday, January 27. SCI’s Bill Nershi penned a note about the band’s 1998 visit to Jamaica, the group’s return to the island and revealing “this will be the first of many ways we are revisiting some of the events from the band’s formative years.”
