Colorado’s String Cheese Incident will not only ring in 2014 with a three-show New Year’s run this December at Broomfield, CO’s 1stBank Center, but will also celebrate their 20th anniversary. The band has just revealed special guests for the first two shows of the run.

SCI has announced that the run “will be the ultimate celebration of the life of the band, highlighted by special guest appearances, vintage relics from SCI’s past, and more!”

Legendary bassist Bootsy Collins and his Funk Unity Band will be String Cheese’s guests on the 28th, while The Flaming Lips will perform a special set on the 29th. In addition, SCI will be joined by the horn section of Karl Denson and Chris Littlefield on both the 28th and 29th. The group has also announced that they will be augmented by “special surprise guests from band’s past on NYE itself.”

Those purchasing tickets will receive a download code good for a free remastered MP3 of the band’s very first cassette tape, which includes early recordings of 11 classic songs.
