The String Cheese Incident Plays ‘90s Covers Set At Hulaween

The String Cheese Incident played an entire set of cover songs from the ‘90s during their performance Saturday at Suwannee Hulaween in Live Oak, Florida. The band — dressed in matching black suits and ties — was joined by vocalists Rhonda Thomas and Tony White for a large portion of the set that included bust-out Phish and Nirvana covers.

SCI’s ‘90s covers came during the third and final set of the night and featured a group of dancers performing choreographed routines while wearing outfits that matched the band or song being covered. The String Cheese Incident began with Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Give It Away.” Next was Sublime’s “Santeria,” followed by the first performance of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” since its debut during SCI’s Halloween concert in 2002. After that bust out came Beck’s “Loser” and Alanis Morissette’s “One Hand In My Pocket.” A bust out of Phish’s “The Wedge,” which SCI covered once before on October 31, 2000, came next, followed by Radiohead’s “Creep” and Pearl Jam’s “Even Flow.”

Thomas and White then emerged and stayed for the remainder of the set. The ‘90s hits continued with TLC’s “Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls,” Blackstreet’s “No Diggity,” Tupac’s “California Love” (featuring “MC Hann” — percussionist Jason Hann), Montell Jordan’s “This Is How We Do It,” Will Smith’s “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” and MC Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This.” The covers set wrapped with Deee-Lite’s “Groove Is In The Heart.”
