Stipe-Less R.E.M. Reunion In Athens Last Night

Last night Peter Buck played the legendary 40 Watt club in Athens, GA; a city close to the guitarist’s heart as it’s where R.E.M. formed in 1980. Over the past year three of R.E.M.’s four members -original drummer Bill Berry, Buck and bassist Mike Mills -have performed together a few times, with the latest instance taking place on Thursday night at 40 Watt.

Buck was joined by Berry, Mills and Scott McCaughey for a rousing rendition of R.E.M.’s 1984 single “Don’t Go Back To Rockville,” sung by Mills. Watch a fan-shot video by Pat Hatcher of the 3/4 R.E.M. reunion:
