Sweetwater Music Hall hosted a talented lineup of musicians performing a celebration of the music of John Coltrane. Guitarist Steve Kimock, saxophonist Larry Ochs, bassist Reed Mathis guitarist Henry Kaiser, keyboardist Bob Bralove and drummer John Hanrahan came together for two sets of music focused entirely on recordings made by the late legendary jazz saxophonist. The ensemble presented a first set made up of Coltrane’s acclaimed 1965 album A Love Supreme. The second set saw the collective offer a live rendition of Coltrane’s 1966 LP Meditations. The same group will perform another Coltrane celebration on March 3 at Michael’s On Main in Soquel, California. Photographer Susan Weiand was at Sweetwater, view a gallery of her photos below:
