Earlier this year, Steve Kimock released a new album Last Danger Of Frost and toured behind the LP with his new K I M O C K project featuring bassist Bobby Vega, drummer John Kimock and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Leslie Mendelson. K I M O C K stopped by NPR Music’s Bob Boilen’s office desk for the latest installment of the long running Tiny Desk Concert video series.
The three-song set began with “Careless Love” sung by Mendelson before the band played “an oldie” as they performed the stirring Kimock instrumental “Tongue N’ Groove.” Leslie, John and Bobby then leave Steve to end the Tiny Desk Concert appearance with a solo take on “Surely This Day.” It’s not often we get to see Steve Kimock perform without any pedals or effects as his unbelievable talent shined through during the stripped-down set.
