Stanton Moore To Participate In Reddit Ask Me Anything Session

Friday is a big day for Galactic drummer Stanton Moore, who will release his long-in-the-making tribute to Allen Toussaint titled With You In Mind: The Songs of Allen Toussaint featuring his trio and an impressive array of collaborators. Fans will have an opportunity to ask Stanton about the album, his Stanton Moore Drum Academy, Galactic or any other topic during an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit scheduled for Friday afternoon. The Stanton Moore Ask Me Anything session will begin at 4 p.m. ET on Friday via Reddit/r/IAMA.

With You In Mind: The Songs of Allen Toussaint finds Stanton joined by his longtime trio of keyboardist David “Tork” Torkanowsky and bassist James Singleton. Moore lined up a bevy of New Orleans musicians to help the trio interpret 10 different Allen Toussaint compositions including Cyril Neville, Maceo Parker, Trombone Shorty, actor/musician Wendell Pierce, Galactic touring vocalist Erica Falls and more. Stanton Moore is also expected to discuss his online drum academy during the AMA on Reddit. So far the drummer has uploaded 34 video lessons to the site spanning almost nine hours. He’ll be posting two new lessons twice each month. Upcoming lesson topics will include buzz roll development, rudiment application (drags, ruffs, flams, paradiddle variations, paradiddle-diddles, the blushda) fill development, brushes, new grooves and more.

As for Galactic, the band will spend a good chunk of August on the road with Gov’t Mule. Look for the Stanton Moore Ask Me Anything thread to appear on r/IAMA just ahead of start time on Friday at which point users can ask away.
