St. Vincent (Annie Clark) took a break from her current tour yesterday to swing by the Ed Sullivan Theater. Clark led her touring band through an impassioned performance of “Violent Times” for Wednesday’s episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
“Violent Times” is a song featured on Clark’s Grammy-winning 2024 St. Vincent album All Born Screaming. The 10-track LP was released last April and saw Clark serve as sole producer for the first time. The record features an otherworldly lineup of contributors, including Dave Grohl, Rachel Eckroth, Josh Freese, Mark Guiliana, Cate Le Bon, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Stella Mozgawa and David Ralicke.

St. Vincent cut a striking figure on Colbert’s stage, sporting a dramatic black hat and matching trench coat. Clark’s backing musicians echoed the theme with military-influenced attire.
