St. Vincent Records National Anthem For NFL

Guitarist St. Vincent (Annie Clark) became a fan of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys while living in the Texas city during the professional football team’s highly successful seasons in the 1990s. The NFL tapped St. Vincent to record a rendition of the National Anthem for an ad campaign, which can be seen in the clip below.

“I decided to do a version that was kind of bendy and a bit manic or off kilter just to represent the idea of what it is to be an American and how we’re going to be the best version of ourselves in the future and the kind of turbulent times in which we live,” Clark said of her arrangement of “The Star-Spangled Banner” in a behind-the-scenes video that was shared by the Cowboys.
