St. Vincent (Annie Clark) swung by 30 Rock yesterday to perform “Flea” for Monday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Clark also led her band through fellow All Born Screaming cut “Big Time Nothing” as a web exclusive.
The self-produced All Born Screaming was released in April. St. Vincent recruited a world-class ensemble to contribute to the album including Dave Grohl, Rachel Eckroth, Josh Freese, Mark Guiliana, Cate Le Bon, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Stella Mozgawa and David Ralicke. Clark’s rhythm section for the studio version of the proggy “Flea” consisted of Grohl on drums and JMJ on bass.

St. Vincent visited Fallon amid the latest leg of her All Born Screaming tour, which comes to Brooklyn for a two-night stand at the Paramount tonight (Tuesday, September 10) and tomorrow (Wednesday, September 11). Clark and company were bathed in red light as they worked through the bombastic “Flea.” The song shows off St. Vincent’s diverse influences ranging from Rush to Talking Heads to David Bowie.
