One of the most requested features from Spotify users is high-fidelity audio. According to a report from Bloomberg, the subscription service will finally launch a new tier costing “at least $5 more per month” later this year that existing premium level subscribers can add on to their accounts including hifi audio as well as tools for playlists and song libraries.

“The new tier’s pricing will vary depending on each user’s base plan but will average out to about a 40% markup,” according to Bloomberg’s source. The article published by Bloomberg today comes a year after the same publication reported Spotify was planning to feature high-fidelity audio as part of a “Supremium” tier.

Spotify recently increased pricing for most levels of service. The flagship individual Premium tier went up $1 from $10.99 to $11.99 while the costs of the Premium Duo and Premium Family tiers also were increased. Spotify updated the pricing so that the company “can continue to invest in and innovate on our product offerings and features” as per a blog post.

The new prices will start on users’ billing dates in July. Spotify competitors Tidal, Apple Music and Amazon Music Unlimited already offer HiFi audio. Bloomberg did not give a date the new tier is expected to launch other than later this year.”
