Iconic music media brand SPIN has purchased Live For Live Music, bringing the independently built live music outlet into its expanding entertainment portfolio. The deal gives SPIN a foothold in the jam band and event space while offering Live For Live Music access to the larger company’s resources and infrastructure.
Founder Kunj Shah and the entire Live For Live Music team will join SPIN. Shah will serve as SPIN’s Vice President of Events. The deal comes amid the rollout of the 2026 Fest By Nite late-night concert series in New Orleans during Jazz Fest.
“Live For Live Music has built something incredibly authentic and powerful,” stated SPIN CEO Jimmy Hutcheson. “They understand community in a way that very few media brands do. By bringing Kunj and his team into SPIN, we’re not just acquiring a media property — we’re welcoming a culture and a loyal audience into our ecosystem. Together, we can expand their events, grow their reach, and build new opportunities across editorial, marketing, and live experiences.”
Following the acquisition, Live For Live Music is expected to maintain its existing editorial focus and branding, while drawing on SPIN’s resources in areas such as audience growth, advertising and sponsorship sales, partnerships and live event production.
“For more than a decade, Live For Live Music has been built from the ground up by people who live and breathe this culture,” added Shah. “What started as a passion project grew into a community that shows up for artists, the fans, and for each other. Partnering with SPIN gives us the resources to dream bigger while staying rooted in the scene that made us.”
SPIN continues to broaden an entertainment portfolio that includes a record label with Virgin and a TV and film partnership with the creators of Yellowstone. Live For Live Music and SPIN will continue to announce more Fest By Nite offerings for the long-running series co-produced with GMP Live and Dayglo.
