Spafford guitarist Brian Moss will rejoin the band on the road when they return to the stage later this month. Moss had been taking a break from touring since June to deal with the fallout of a serious vehicle crash in March.

Brian Moss’ bandmates — bassist Jordan Fairless, drummer Nick Tkachyk and keyboardist Cory Schechtman — had been soldiering on with Mike Gantzer of Aqueous filling in. Moss shared his appreciation to Gantzer for stepping up in a note announcing his return. “I would like to thank @mike_gantzer for coming in and helping out a fellow musician and friend in a time of need. His courage to take on this role with such short notice shows the magnitude of his character and musicianship,” Brian Moss wrote on Instagram.

“Secondly, I want to thank the band — I know a lot of time and effort went into teaching and practicing our music to Mike. I couldn’t thank you guys enough for your patience,” Moss continued. “To the crew, our managers, my family, and friends; thank you for allowing me the time to heal from both the mental and physical symptoms I had experienced. And last but not least— to the fans who reached out and to those that gave me space, I greatly appreciate you all.”

Brian Moss ended the note by thanking Backline and MusiCares for the organizations’ “incredible service to the music industry” before exclaiming, “I am ready to rock once again.” Spafford’s summer tour resumes on August 15 in Nashua, New Hampshire.
