Southern Avenue Shares ‘Control’ Single

Memphis-based soul and rock act Southern Avenue continues to preview their forthcoming Be The Love You Want album with the release of single “Control.” Be The Love You Want arrives via BMG/Renew Records on August 27.

The 12-track follow-up to 2019’s Keep On was co-produced by Los Lobos multi-instrumentalist Steve Berlin and Southern Avenue guitarist Ori Naftaly. Be The Love You Want features music mostly penned by Naftaly and lead vocalist Tierinii Jackson. The quintet previously shared singles “Push Now” and “Move Into The Light” from their upcoming LP.

“The song ‘Control’ is the voice of self-discipline that you hear inside your head,” explained Tierinii Jackson, who co-wrote the song. “There’s something about the repetition of the word ‘control’ in the hook sticks with you, and hopefully that can be the voice that carries the listener through whatever journey they are on.”

Southern Avenue just finished a run of dates opening for Jason Mraz. The band teams with Maggie Rose at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville on Thursday before appearing at this weekend’s Summer Camp Music Festival in Chillicothe, Illinois.
