As reported, Soul Coughing will embark on a reunion tour this fall. The demand to see the original four members – Mike Doughty, Sebastian Steinberg, Mark degli Antoni and Yuval Gabay – take the stage together for the first time in 25 years was big enough for promoters to move shows in four cities to bigger venues.

Soul Coughing’s concert on September 24 has been moved from Minneapolis’ First Avenue to the Palace Theatre in St. Paul. The quartet also upgraded from The Vic to The Riviera Theatre on September 25 in Chicago, from The Royale to Roadrunner in Boston on September 29 and from Union Transfer to Franklin Music Hall in Philadelphia on October 3.

Tickets for all four shows are on sale now.

Formed in 1992, Soul Coughing released three albums and built a large and dedicated fanbase before breaking up in 2000. While Mike Doughty originally talked negatively about his time in the band, he’d since softened his stance. However, the news of the first Soul Coughing shows since 2000 was still a surprise.

“The end was acrimonious, but I just thought I’d give it a shot,” Doughty said of attempting a reunion. “So I just wrote an email to all three guys. It took a little convincing for some of them, but I was really gratified that everyone wanted to take part in that again — to see if we can be a great band again.”

The tour begins on September 11 in Solana Beach (California). Soul Coughing will then follow additional West Coast shows by making their way across America through October 5.
