Smashing Pumpkins Announce New Album & Add Tour Dates

Smashing Pumpkins have announced the name of their upcoming reunion album: Zeitgeist. The highly anticipated album will be released on July 7, 2007. The news was leaked this morning (2/7) to fans that had been added by the band as a “friend” on MySpace.com.

Band leader Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin are the only original members still in the group. The two have been hard at work in the studio with producers Roy Thomas Baker and Terry Date on Zeitgeist, which will be the Smashing Pumpkins first record since 2000’s MACHINA/The Machines of God. The Pumpkins have also announced a few European festival dates. The band will perform at Germany’s Rock Am Ring festival in Nürburgring on June 2nd and 3rd and will be at Austria’s Nova Rock Festival on June 15th and Switzerland’s Greenfield Festival on June 17th.
