Sinkane Performs For Paste

Genre-blending band Sinkane — fronted by singer-songwriter Ahmed Gallab — recently swung through New York City where they stopped by Paste Studios in Manhattan to perform songs from their new album, Dépaysé, as well as a tune from 2014’s Mean Love.

Sinkane opened up the session with “Mango,” the closing track on the new record. Gallab, who is Sudanese-American, then spoke about the meaning of the word “dépaysé” as well as the current turmoil taking place in Sudan before dedicating the Dépaysé track “Ya Sudan” to the people of the African nation. Sinkane closed out the session with “Young Trouble,” a track from his 2014 LP Mean Love.
