Sunshine Grove :: Okeechobee, FL

Now in its third year, the 2018 Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival was held at scenic Sunshine Grove on Lake Okeechobee in Florida this past weekend. Organizers continue to fill the four-day event with a diverse lineup ranging from EDM titan Bassnectar to hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg to jamtronica pioneers STS9 to rockers The Flaming Lips. The options went well beyond music including art installations, yoga, meditation, local culinary treats and more. One of the biggest draws outside of the lineup is the weather and the sun was out in full force each day.

This year’s PoWoW! superjam saw The Roots perform and back the likes of Chaka Khan and Snoop Dogg. Arcade Fire’s first performance of 2018 focused on material from last year’s Everything Now yet also included classics from Funeral, The Suburbs, Neon Bible and Reflektor. Flaming Lips also began the year at Okeechobee and dusted off “Fight Test” for the first time since 2016. Wayne Coyne & Co. also offered the live debut of “One Night While Hunting For Faeries & Witches & Wizards To Kill” as part of a career-spanning set that included a cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” and an instrumental “Star-Spangled Banner.” Tribe’s performance featured “Scheme,” “Wave Spell,” “Golden Gate” and more, while Bassnectar fit a sample of a Martin Luther King Jr. speech into one of his sets. Photographer Adam McCullough was on hand and has shared over 60 photos from Okeechobee ’18:
